On Thursday, June 21st, Crossroads will celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day with a special 100 Huntley Street program from Crawford Lake Conservation Area in Milton, ON., which is on traditional territory of the Wendat, Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabe, Attawanderon and Metis people. We acknowledge that these lands are the treaty lands of the Mississauga's of the New Credit First Nation.

Guests will include three-time Juno award winner, Inuk singer and songwriter, Susan Aglukark, Metis fiddler Alicia Blore, and will feature segments that honour First Nation, Metis and Inuit culture and people.

Crossroads established two new positions in 2016 that ensure the Indigenous community have a voice and representation in Canada's longest running daily television show, 100 Huntley Street in segments called First Peoples Voices.

"I am proud to be a Metis. My family line has a history of justice advocates and politicians standing in the gap for those who cannot." - Crystal Lavallee, First Peoples Voices Producer for 100 Huntley Street

Indigenous Producer, Crystal Lavallee (Metis) travels across Canada to capture stories that educate, celebrate and bring awareness to Indigenous history, culture and people. First Peoples Voices is part of Crossroads' response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's recommendations that support Indigenous voices on culture, spirituality and languages.   Outreach Ambassador, Bev Hadland works to build bridges between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. Resources are mobilized and shipped to northern communities to aid in community development.
